Big brother is watching you...

So cool and loved the production! I will defo see again as I now have withdrawal symptoms from the play. However, I would love for the production to be 3D as it would make it so coolx10. xx

1984 was absolutely brilliant! Andrew Gower was fantastic as doomed Winston; I couldn’t help but gasp in places and I think Orwell would have been impressed! The lighting and sound effects added to the intensity and I would happily pay to watch it again. We went as a birthday and anniversary weekend and I am so glad I booked it – it made our weekend extra perfect!

Brilliant adaptation of Orwell's novel. A tour de force with incredible relevance to our current climate. Stunning actors carry the plot well and send cold shivers down the spine.

The production was brilliantly conceived and totally compelling. The audience were mesmerized by it. It perfectly conveyed the mood of the novel.

Had the pleasure of seeing such a great show on Bank Holiday Monday evening. Chilling, disturbing and beautiful. I must also give praise to the front of house staff who are very attentive and pleasant. Especially a lady on the left hand of the stalls. Can't remember her name but she made my experience that little more memorable. Thank you and keep up the good work!

Even though the story is bleak, Headlong have somehow managed to make us care about Orwell's characters. In the book Winston is a little dull, just an ordinary man with an anarchist streak that can't win. I was really rooting for him in the show. I also noticed a lot of Catholic imagery which I don't think is in the book. It added an intriguing level for me and I read the show in a new way. I saw the production with my daughter and she didn't notice it - it's so interesting when a company add layers for different audience members. Such a fantastic show. Stressful, but fantastic.

I've never seen a theatre adaptation of 1984 before, and because it's one of my favourite books I was excited to see it. Headlong are such a creative company and they tackle Orwell's classic with confidence. I really enjoyed the technical aspects of the production, the lighting especially. They use it to such great effect that it almost becomes a character in itself. The show was menacing and threatening, just as it should be, and the performances were excellent. The only problem I have with the show (and it's quite a big problem in terms of audience experience) is that you aren't allowed to go to the toilet and come back in again. There didn't seem to be any valid reason for not letting people out. When you've paid that much for a ticket you should be allowed to nip out for a wee if you like. We were told there wasn't an interval but nobody said we couldn't leave - the ushers behind me had several conversations with bursting audience members who had to decide if they wanted to leave. But overall it was a good show, even if the theatre got a bit too in character as Big Brother.

Wow, exceptional, 101 minutes of intense theatre! Sets, effects, acting, gripping from start to finish - must see!

The theatre itself is lovely and you have a perfect view from any seat. I found the play itself strange and difficult to follow, although the acting was very good.
